What is WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance and do I need it?

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the web accessibility standard now required under ADA Title II for state and local government websites (deadline April 24, 2026 for populations of 50,000+). It covers color contrast ratios, keyboard navigation, alt text for images, form labels, focus indicators, and more.

Private-sector websites face increasing legal risk as well — ADA web accessibility lawsuits increased 20% in 2025. Even if not legally required for your site, WCAG AA compliance improves usability for all visitors.

CodeFrog tests both WCAG AA and AAA, flagging violations with specific success criteria references so you know exactly what to fix.

Note: Full WCAG AA/AAA conformance requires manual testing with assistive technologies beyond what any automated tool provides. See CodeFrog's WCAG page for details.
