Why are there so many web accessibility lawsuits?

ADA web accessibility lawsuits increased 20% in 2025. As Jason Taylor, Chief Innovation Strategist and Advisor, explains:

Why are there so many lawsuits?

  1. Websites are built and changed with a lack of accessibility prioritization
  2. Very active and professional plaintiff bar with a process to find and sue companies in volume
  3. Unique ADA law allows anyone with a disability to sue any company that is not providing equal access to public spaces (which many judges have classified websites as).

What can you do to reduce risk? Prioritize your web accessibility or hire a company to help.

CodeFrog helps reduce your risk with automated WCAG AA/AAA accessibility testing powered by axe-core. Run accessibility scans on localhost during development to catch issues before they reach production.

Note: Full WCAG AA/AAA conformance requires manual testing with assistive technologies beyond what any automated tool provides. See CodeFrog's WCAG page and Accessibility page for details.
